Circles Galore

Happy Happy Wednesday!  Tomorrow is the first day of Spring and I’m certainly hoping that it will bring more warmth and sunshine than we’ve had here in MN for a while.   Yesterday there was more snow …  I’m ready to see green grass again and get the trailer out and ready for camping!

I tried to come up with something for this week’s Operation Write Home (OWH) Midweek Throwdown (Circles Galore) that would inspire thoughts of Spring but I wasn’t successful.   The first few things I tried simply didn’t work.   That happens sometimes, ah well, we can’t let that deter us.   So I took a completely different approach and chose the glittery path instead!   I know that glitter is nearly always taboo for OWH cards, but I’ve found a couple of products that are sparkly but none of the sparkle rubs off – HURRAY!   So here’s a card that I finally thought was presentable and met the challenge criteria.

This card may look like a throwback to the old days but it uses modern day materials.   I’m sorry that the photo doesn’t show the shine very well and that it looks rather gray, but it is really silver and gray and black and I’m very happy with how it turned out.

I cut a hole in the card front using the Stampin’ Up 1 3/8″ circle punch. The scalloped border was made by adhering silver glitter Duck tape to some waxed paper, then cutting it out with the Stampin’ Up 1 3/4″ scalloped circle punch and then again using the 1 3/8″ circle punch to cut out the center.  The same two punches were used on more Duck tape and several different papers from the DCWV Twinkle Glints paper stack.   Again the silver glitter Duck tape was adhered to wax paper and then two hearts were punched out using the Epiphany Craft Shape Studio Tool Heart 25 punch which I overlapped on the inside of the card so they were showing through the card front hole.   The sentiment is called Life’s Treasures from Stampers Anonymous (H1-2026) and was stamped using Versafine onyx black ink.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card.
